One has to wonder why the FDA so often learns of problems only after a new drug or medical device is approved and in use. Reports submitted to the FDA suggest NeutroSpec, a die used during radiographic imaging, caused allergic-type reactions within minutes following administration. Those reactions led to the death of two patients and to cardiopulmonary failure, central nervous system problems and infusion reactions in other patients.
